Spalted, 2022

A singular work separated in two iterations on honoring time.

Walking through the woods with my dad, we found this log. These lines are evidence of the wood decomposing. To preserve and recognize the overlooked, I have expanded and illuminated these lines.

This glass sculpture will last far longer than the spalted maple. To recognize the reality of this withering beauty a green circle illuminates this natural process.
